Twitter Squeeze - A New Strategy
A thunder storm is raging as I write this and the rain pounding the streets..maybe I shouldn’t have the computer on, …..anyway I need to tell you about this.
I’m talking about Twitter and tweeting, making connections, building friends or followers - this is what social media is all about. There has been great debate amongst marketers about how to monetize twitter.
Well if you build enough followers you can build a funnel stream that could be very profitable. We’re talking about your true fans. A true fan meaning anyone who will buy anything you produce and follow your progress avidly - artists, writers - creative people take note…but it applies to anyone with something to offer. You can read more about that at Kevin Kelly’s blog.
Internet Marketer Rick ‘Call em as I see ‘em’ Butts has come out with some eye opening and sublime training on Twitter and how to leverage this so if you see the potential power of Twitter, and you should, this is available for a measly $20…(until 1st Aug at which point it will more than double :-o… I assure you you will be impressed by the whiteboard videos and the upcoming stuff Rick has promised…

The dark side of Google Knols
Google Knol is described as a unit of knowledge - an authoritative article about a specific topic
and initially reeks of opportunity what with the ranking reports.
As Google roll out their wikipedia meets Squidoo mash-up there is concern that Google are
favoring their own Knol content over authority work. There is also ‘no follow’ which means
you get no credit or value for your outbound links.
Another issue is knoljacking - someone could post your content to Knol, get a couple of inbound links
and beat your ranking even if your site is an authority site.
Aaron Wall of SEOBook writes that he put the same article from the ‘authoritive’ work.com and placed it in a knol to find it ranked higher.
All this seems to be leading to a worrying trend in my opinion.
Still, let’s look at the positives - if they rank well - might as well use ‘em.
Linking to your websites and blogs will drive traffic and act as another back door
in the satellite game of Google love, even if the links are ‘no follow’.
Comprehensive information with several paragraphs and subheaders- using keywords in the title.
Let me know your comments on Google Knols!
Wordpress Installation
Installing wordpress on your own server is the way to go. This gives you more control to be able to add your own themes and plugins and own your own content. Some online blog services can shut you down without any reason apart from 1 complaint. Imagine that? losing however many months or years of content at the press of a button!!
If you have C panel with your web host you can usually install via fantastico clicking one or two buttons. This is fine but sometimes manual installation gives you a better understanding of the process..and it isn’t that difficult to do.
Step 1.
Go to wordpress.org and click ‘downloads’ from the horizontal menu and download the zip file. Extract this to your local folder.

For Initial Steps of setting up hosting and using winzip and ftp files please refer to these resources:
http://www.winzip.com
http://www.ftpplanet.com/ftpresources/basics.htm
Step 2.
Once uploaded, you’ll need to create a MySQL database. Find the MySQL in your host’s control panel.

Then create a new database:
· Fill out the name of the database
· Click to go back
· Create a user and password
· Again click to go back

Then select ‘all’ under Privileges and add user to the database.

Step 3.
Rename the wp-config-sample.php file to wp-config.php
And open in a text editor to fill out your database details
Step 4.
Upload the files to your server either onto the top root if you want the blog to be your main website or into a subfolder, usually named ‘blog’.
Or just drag the whole ‘wordpress’ folder to your root directory and rename it.
Step 5.
Run the install script by going to it in your browser.
* If you installed WordPress in the root directory, you should visit: http://yoursiteexample.com/wp-admin/install.php
* If you installed WordPress in its own subdirectory called blog, for example, you should visit: http://yoursiteexample.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php

Traffic Secrets and Whores?

Is it over yet? No there’s some more…you may have noticed the snowstorm surrounding John Reese’s Traffic Secrets 2.0 is in full frenzy. Massive bonuses are being branded about in an avalanche of emails.
Of course it’s nothing new..it’s always the same with every big launch. But it reminds me when Scott Boulch recently talked about Doru’s - the people that actually work behind the scenes making the real money, as opposed to Guru’s who tend to cross-promote.
Not saying for one minute John Reese’s course is no good, I haven’t seen it - I’d imagine it has some great content for your business..this is John Reese we’re talking about!
Rick Butts, however, raised an interesting point in his blog about ‘how much was it worth?’ considering the amount of information around about the latest traffic strategies. Anyway there is another fantastic debate raging at Rick Butts’ post ‘12 Biggest Whores in Internet Marketing‘…hmm controversial.

Oh yeh..wow…
This might not seem like a big deal..BUT IT IS.
Google’s external keyword tool now displays the previous months search numbers - but they are spot on in terms of accuracy for the first time. That means no more guessing and great for planning your niche (or otherwise) marketing strategies.
Woo Hoo !

Ahh …the money’s in the list!!
It’s a saying that has been kicking around Internet Marketing circles for a while now. However common perception is changing as people realise that - sure - if you are a Guru doing joint ventures with your fellow Gurus - then undoubtedly..there is a LOT OF MONEY in the list. But for the rest of us trying to build our empires we need a different tact.
You may be someone that is considering starting an email list in your market or a well-seasoned marketer looking to improve your results. Either way you should take some time out to listen to Lee McIntyre, a UK Marketer, who left his job as a school teacher to go full time off the back of a small but super responsive email list selling information.
Lee has written everything down, going through the painful mistakes he made in Internet Marketing, learning the hard way, before realizing that there was a much easier route – building a highly responsive email list.
Step by step Lee covers the initial set up using his preferred auto responder to automate the email marketing process and delves into why a close relationship of value with his list has turned out very successfully.
Lee not only covers email marketing gems here but focuses on the sane method of marketing your product, whether it is your own or for an affiliate program. Golden rules for squeeze or opt-in pages are clearly marked out as well as killer tips to maximise the profit potential of every step of the sign up process. This alone makes the price of this ebook worthwhile if nothing else.
Then there is the established Marketing Rules we should all take heed of, or are perhaps unaware of. In either case Lee clearly and methodically covers each one in an easy to understand manner.
Mailing Lists Unleashed is an essential cog of your email marketing strategy and should be implemented whether you are a ‘newbie’ Internet Marketer or already have lists set up and running.
Take you chance to grab your Free Leaked Chapter and see for yourself the easy to understand, no nonsense approach Lee takes to giving you this essential information.
